This body of work is most notably influenced by years living in a remote area north of Lake Superior, Ontario. The subject matter draws upon the energy and the quality of light found in the northern landscape and the portrayal of each tree is a totemic representation of the beauty and raw power of the natural world. The study of patterns and textures greatly influenced experimentation with techniques and materials that have been applied to subsequent bodies of work. The multi panel format represents a personal narrative from recollections of experiences with this unique landscape.
