The delicate pattern, form and materiality of the designs from a collection of lace, needlepoint and fragments of tatting are central to the work. The outcome is a layering of images, materials and application of mixed media in a synthesis of abstract and often dense patterns. It is the camouflage of the recognized and familiar where the past is connected with the present. In this case, it is the discovery of the unexpected nature of each piece of lace and tatting-art that is reinterpreted using non-traditional approaches.
